Introduction

Whittlebury is a small village of some 236 households and a population of 618 in 2020 set on the edge of the historical royal hunting forest of Whittlewood. The earliest settlement has been traced to the Iron Age, and King Athelstan held court in Whittlebury in c.930AD. Our rural legacy can still be found today with many mature trees and views over the countryside surrounding the village with, in particular, the woods, parkland and deer park on the southern edge.
